Almost every system is impacted by climate change such as human settlements, agriculture, ecosystems etc. Extreme weather and environmental conditions like flooding, drought, wind storms, heat waves, and desertification are just but a few of the challenges facing humanity. Healthy landscapes have been proven to provide a protective and adaptive measure against climate change as well as offering a sustainable approach for mitigation and adaptation for more resilient communities. SLAN adopts a community-based engagement approach to provide adaptive landscape best management strategies for land management, wetland agriculture and other land use practices that impact on natural cycles.

SLAN collaborates with indigenous people, to source local knowledge of the landscape and better formulate mitigation approaches that are locally adaptive and suitable for unique socio-cultural and environmental contexts. We work with landscape impact measurement tools to determine effects and benefits of particular landscape approaches and measuring performance.
