LANDSCAPE RIGHTS AND TENURE

Government has the ultimate rights of land ownership in many countries in sub-saharan Africa particularly Nigeria. These rights override all interests and tenure, while providing inadequate compensation to disruption of people’s livelihood. Again, even with the short-term tenure, landscapes cut across different boundaries and interests which make landscape interventions challenging.
